ATL specialises in the design and manufacture of Bladder-Type Containment Systems, Liquid Reactant Bladder Storage, Pressure Compensation Devices and Delivery Systems for use in a Subsea environment.
Devices can be designed and manufactured for Diver Delivery Craft, Subsea Oil & Gas Exploration, Drilling & Well Services, Pipeline Maintenance and Repair, Engineering, Remote Intervention, Defence and Scientific Research Projects. ATL are happy to look at all and any uses for our technology.
ATL bladder tanks are made from a variety of materials ranging from thin, flexible films to high strength fabric-reinforced rubber. These bladders, inflatables and bellows boast unparalleled chemical tolerance, abrasion resistance and remarkable durability for long term storage. ATL is familiar with the challenges that the harsh subsea environment presents and has developed materials and technologies that perform flawlessly in the extreme pressure depths of the sea.
Utilising the latest CAD technology, ATL design engineers work with partners to digitally model a collapsible bladder which is tailored to the exact specifications of the application. ATL’s production engineers have decades of experience and numerous cutting-edge fabrication techniques at their disposal, including RF (Radio Frequency) sealing, as well as thermal, friction, ultrasonic, vulcanisation and adhesive welding. These methods yield a remarkably strong and leak-tight bladder.
Some examples of ATL's subsea flexible bladder applications include bladders for liquid fuels and oxidizers, blow out prevention skid (BOP) bladders, methanol and ethylene glycol bladders, Monoethylene glycol (MEG) bladders, dispersant reservoirs, bladders for hydraulic fluids, flotation chambers, submersible ballast bladders, propane bladders, fuel bladders, lift bags, spill clean-up bags, pressure compensators, buoyancy bladders, dampers, accumulators, diaphragms and storage for chemical and cleaning solutions.
ATL also offers a wide variety of standard hardware, including fittings, valves, flanges and caps that allow for easy fill/discharge/refill. If you are looking for totally custom hardware, ATL's factory is equipped with CNC machining capabilities that can manufacture a bespoke solution, whatever the size or quantity required. Every day, ATL's flexible bladders are put to the test in the most demanding underwater oil and gas projects:
Subsea Remote Intervention Systems:
- Flexible bladders for ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicles), AUV (Autonomous Underwater Vehicles) and UUV (Unmanned Underwater Vehicles) for use with reactants (including caustic and acidic solutions and Otto Fuel), seawater and oxidizers in propulsion systems. ATL also designs and manufactures bladders for submersibles, subsea robotics and buoy/generator modules
- Leak-tight electronic enclosures, including battery boxes and instrumentation covers.
- Deep sea reservoirs and custom bladders in support of SURF (Subsea Umbilicals, Risers, & Flowlines).
- Control Fluid Test Bladders for Blowout Prevention Skids (BOP Bladders). These flexible BOP Intervention Skid bladders are used for function testing and accumulator charging and can either be ROV mounted or in cages on the bottom of the ocean floor.
Pipeline Services/Maintenance:
- During pre-commissioning operations, flexible bladders are used for storing cleaning and treatment chemicals which are then injected into pipelines. ATL has experience with numerous chemicals, including corrosion inhibitors, oxygen scavengers, biocides and dyes.
- ATL Bladders are also regularly used in oil flushing operations, where various chemical cocktails are used to clean fuel, lube, oil and hydraulic transfer lines/systems.
ATL is proud to have decades of experience supplying a wide range of Marine and Subsea organisations, providing solutions for all manner of operations.
Refuelling Bowser
The ATL Refuelling Bowser has been designed and developed to ensure safe refuelling of any tank and vehicle at all times. Including an ATL Safety Fuel Cell, the system incorporates many safety shut-off functions to ensure any risk is removed during the refuelling process while still allowing fast and efficient use.
Safety systems include:
- Bowser tank overpressure shut-off (50mBar).
- Fill over pressure shut-off (default 350mBar – user adjustable up to 1Bar).
- Bowser tank overfill protection.
- Fill speed adjustment. - Deadman operation.
The bowser connects to the tank, vehicle or fuel drum using two hoses, one for the fuel and one for the displaced air, and has been designed to do four specific things in a totally closed loop system:
- Empty a tank or vehicle and measure the amount of fuel removed, without risking running the on-board pump dry. (A car tank upgrade may be required)
- Fill the transfer bowser from a standard drum, measuring the amount of fuel withdrawn and the total in the bowser.
- Put the required amount of fuel into the tank or vehicle via a dead man principle.
- Fill or empty a refuelling tower in pit lane quickly and safely.
The bowser only operates on a 'dead man' push button for safety. It has an automatic show down feature when the tank or vehicle is full, when the bowser is full and when excess pressure is detected. Sealed with an ATEX compliant fuel system,
Available in 100L / 200L Capacity. The measurements are for each bowser are:
- 100 ltr = 760 x 500 x 725mm (DxWxH)
- 200 ltr = 760 x 700 x 880mm (DxWxH)
