Production Planner

Aero Tec Laboratories are looking for a Production Planner to join our planning team in Milton Keynes. The successful candidate should be proficient in the use of Microsoft Project and Excel, and have experience organising a busy production schedule. Please read on for more details!

Job Purpose

  • To work efficiently within the Planning Department managing the schedule forecast for all departments.
  • To process scheduling requests and workflows from all sources in a timely manner.
  • To produce the relevant reports for the Planned vs. Actual Data to allow accurate planning.
  • To review the planning method with Senior Managers to ensure continual improvement.

Main Duties

  • Liaising with the Senior Managers to ensure that all customer projects are planned in a resource effective manner.
  • Work with Managers to ensure success of the plan, this involves working together to create potential back up plans.
  • Liaise with the relevant departments to ensure any planning queries are dealt with at the initial planning stage.
  • To promote and drive continual improvement of the planning method by working with the Senior Managers.
  • Produce and maintain the Planned vs. Actual reporting system, analysing the data with the Management Team and implementing any updates necessary to ensure the schedule reflects current data.
  • To ensure that all planning documents are kept up to date and reflect each other.
  • Monitor resource usage and update forecasts for the Management Team to allow for accurate resource forecasting.
  • Understand the flow of work through the business and ensure that the plan reflects this.
  • Improve manufacturing knowledge to be able to produce an effective plan.
  • Provide support and guidance to the office admin supporting the Planning function.

  • Must have strong attention to detail;
  • Ability to manage workload;
  • Be able to use their initiative to keep the process moving;
  • Must develop strong MS Project skills;
  • Will be responsible for the future plan as whole and ensuring it’s as accurate as possible;
  • Responsible for the planning documentation and must ensure it’s always up to date with accurate data;
  • Be confident with moving projects around to allow us to achieve customer requests where possible.
  • Be able to analyse project successes and failures to establish areas for improvement in the planning process.
  • Ability to train and support other members of the Planning function

Job Requirements

Salary Package

  • £32,000 to £35,000
