Aero Tec Laboratories craft flexible fuel tanks for many industries, including motorsport, automotive, marine, aerospace, defence and aviation. We are the leading manufacturer in our field and currently supply Formula One and Le Mans.

Job role

As Group Head of Design, you will be responsible for the entire Design function of the business for the UK and USA. You will ensure the team deliver optimised designs within the scope of each project, and drive technology diversification to ensure the company meets business goals.

Main Duties

  • Work with the Design team to ensure Design projects are delivered on time and right first time to all Operations areas.
  • Work with all Operations managers and Quality team to optimise the use of release feedback into the full Design cycle.
  • Maintain excellent customer relations, coordinating technical discussions during the full product lifecycle.
  • Ensure that all required competencies exist within your teams and manage the upkeep of training/certification as required.
  • Escalate any HR issues to the HR team providing detailed documentation of issues arising and any previous discussions.
  • Identify areas for Continual Improvement and work with others as required to deliver requisite tasks to achieve the improvements.
  • Resource planning, including monitoring annual leave, ensuring competent cover for each role, and working with other members of the Leadership team to forecast resource and cross skill from area to area where possible/required.
  • Attend management meetings as required.
  • Conduct staff appraisals.
  • Use environmentally sustainable practices in accordance with our environmental policy.
  • Seek ways to reduce waste and energy usage in accordance with our environmental objectives.
  • You may be required to complete other tasks, as required by the business.

Requirements

  • Relevant industry experience essential.
  • Design release and engineering change experience.
  • Personnel management experience.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience with basic and electronic metrology equipment.
  • Experience of ISO BMS is desirable but not essential.

Package

  • Salary - £75,000 - £120,000 per annum, depending on experience
