Job Purpose

  • To work efficiently and effectively within the Design Department managing multiple projects and prioritising workloads of others while maintaining a fair output yourself.
  • To create concepts and realise these into manufactured solutions for customers and internal Design and Production requirements, guiding other within the department to achieve the same.
  • To develop all members of the Design team in all relevant disciplines.
  • Convert customer requirements into high-quality manufacturing documentation with the use of CAD, PLM and MRP software.
  • To ensure continual improvement of Design team practices, procedures and standards.

Main Duties

  • Attend daily briefings to feedback on progress of the Design team and respond to questions from other managers.
  • Monitor and assist with Design Engineers communication with Customers and Suppliers.
  • Check the work being release to internal customers and monitor release feedback, discussing with relevant parties where required.
  • To produce high-quality templates for Cell Manufacture, with accurate models, digital representations, drawings and information for the Operations area to follow.
  • Document designs and systems throughout the departmental lifecycle to ensure customer's requirements are met and follow company standards.
  • Required to develop job knowledge in all areas of Fuel Cell, Systems and Component Design, and continually progress their engineering capabilities.
  • Other jobs within your capabilities may be requested by Senior Management from time-to-time including any other role that you possess experience in that the Company may require you to fulfil.
  • Report formally weekly to the Design Manager.
  • Conduct weekly team meeting.
  • Respond to departmental non-conformance implementing containment, corrective action and verification thereof.

Responsibilities & Competences

  • Responsible for the drafting of Design owned QMS documents.
  • Attend Production Meetings to report progress of Design team.
  • Leading the Design team with the guidance of the Design Manager.
  • Ensure that Release and Engineering Change procedures are followed.
  • Drawing, 3DVia and CAD model checking.
  • Have deep knowledge of QMS and any product defined regulatory requirements and apply it/them to all projects.
  • Report equipment and human resource requirements to Senior Management.
  • Continually improve Design processes and procedures.
  • Maintain Design Standards and Work Instructions.
